2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:17

“So then, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; what is old has passed away – look, what is new has come!”.

What  constitutes a newness of life in Christ? To what extent has it changed your own cultural identity, if at all?

Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, ( ἄδικος (ádikos) one who deals fraudulently with others, deceitful ) and not before the saints ( ἅγιος (hágios) holy, morally blameless, holy)?
Do ye not know that the saints shall judge ( κρίνω (Krino) the world ( κόσμος (kósmos) orderly arrangement, government, world, universe) and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
Know ye not that we shall judge angels ( ἄγγελος (ángelos) messenger, one who is sent, envoy, (a.e. Messenger of God)?
how much more things that pertain to this life.
What is meant by this saying, “Know ye not that we shall judge angels”?

Genesis 18:25 Far be it from you to do such a thing as this, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be as the wicked; far be it from you! Shall not the judge of all the earth do right?”

Abraham intercedes with God to restrain his judgment, to spare Lot and other righteous persons who might be overthrown with the wicked in Sodom and he bases his request on the righteous judgment of God.

I John 4:17 “Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as he is , so are we in this world.” There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear. “

Can we have boldness in the day of judgment?

Judgement

For the last couple of months, or maybe even longer, I have been putting more effort into “letting go, and letting God” with the issues of life.  This is manifest by being more quiet, listening more, and waiting for things to be revealed, and straightened out, without using any defense techniques.  However; the work comes in, with trying to be more like Christ; thinking the best, and rejecting as much negativity as possible.  Thinking the worst can be a protective measure.

This also translates into putting judgment of others, their practices, their words, and intentions into the hand of God, which is  difficult, but it also very freeing.  God will protect you.  And plus, we are all works in progress.

We are told to examine ourselves, though.

Self-examination can be hard. We tend to have very biased viewpoints. But self examination and personal change are things we do have control over.

I am experiencing the comfort of knowing that God is in control, and has appointed Christ as judge, for our/my good.   It is a source of joy for me, knowing my Father loves and cares for me, even, on this level.

“Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.”” ‭‭John‬ ‭7:24‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Usually we are told not to judge at all. How do we judge correctly?

Lamentations 3:22-24

It is of the Lords mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.  The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therfore I will hope in Him.”  Giving us comfort during this time of loss.

Psalm 132:1-5

“Lord, remember David and all his afflictions…surely I will not give sleep to mine eyes or slumber to mine eyelids until I find out a place for the Lord.”  David likes this verses because it shows how hard David sought for God even in afflictions.

Jeremiah 32:38-39

“And they shall be my people, and I will be their God. I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear me forever, for their own good and the good of their children after them.”
‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭32:38-39‬ ‭ESV‬‬

This was the theme of GLCBS this year, and was a good reminder of God’s promises to his people. Serving God is best for us and our future generations.
